ABOUT

In June of 2000 a group of Obedience Judges from throughout New Zealand, attended a seminar on judging.
It was at this seminar, that the concept of an Obedience Judges Association was born.
It was decided that the Association’s objectives would be:
  • To develop and implement a national training programme, including assessment prior to and whilst on the judges panel. In introducing a training program, it was hoped that assistance could be given to suitable and interested people who may otherwise not have achieved the necessary points in competition to become trainee judges.
  • To represent members at Regional, National and International levels in whatever forums that are appropriate to support their interests.
  • To hold regular seminars and training sessions for all obedience judges.
  • To have a national conference on an annual basis.
  • To be involved with the formation of regulation and regulation changes relating to dog obedience competition within New Zealand.
A steering committee was then formed and during the following year a constitution and policy was developed. In June of 2001 an inaugural meeting of the Obedience Judges Association was held and the constitution passed. Later that year, after some fine tuning, the proposal to form the Obedience Judges Association was accepted by the executive of the NZKC.
